About the Event
In this family session we will be learning what mindfulness is and why we should do it! We’ll also be learning different ways we can practice.
This session will be action packed with games, crafts and activities. The best way for children to learn is through play and mindfulness when taught in this way is really fun and engaging for them.
Learning mindfulness as a family is a great way to practice yourself but also your children get to learn this great technique to support their own wellbeing.
As a parent it can be really hard to find the time to practice mindfulness. Teaching it to our children means we get more chances to practice together.
We can want to support our children emotionally and help them grow up to be confident and happy but would like some specific techniques to teach them. This session will teach you and your children how to practice everyday!
Why should I learn mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a scientifically proven technique to help us manage stress, lower anxiety and depression, improve our physical health and help us concentrate and focus. You don’t need any special equipment and there are lots of different ways to practice. It’s a really practical and accessible way to support your wellbeing.
Why should my child learn mindfulness?
We teach our children from a young age how to look after their physical health (wash your hands etc.) but the messages around how to look after their mental health can feel harder to explore. Teaching mindfulness from a young age teaches children a way to regulate their emotions, become more confident and increase their focus and concentration. Plus it is a lot of fun!
Why should we learn mindfulness as a family?
Another great benefit of mindfulness is it helps us increase and improve our social connections. Learning how to practice as a family can help you to bond and become closer. It’s also great modelling to children to show them how to look after their mental well-being and that this is important.
What age range is this for?
This session is aimed at 3-11 year olds but siblings outside of this age are very welcome! If your child doesn’t fall into this age range and you’d like to discuss more then email me for a chat!
My child won’t sit still and be quiet for a mindfulness practice!
And I don’t expect them to! The practices will be learnt through games and activities so there is no expectation that they need to sit still.
My child has additional needs. Is this suitable for them?
I will make any adjustments I can to welcome everybody! If your child had additional needs it would be great to know this in advance if you can email me crclewellbeing@gmail.com
This will be a super fun session and I hope you can join us! If you have any questions please do contact me on the email above.
